Itinerary Extensions
From Petra and the Dead Sea in Jordan
to the Western Oases in Egypt, we can customize
a trip extension to suit your preference.
Thermal springs, bird watching and a climb
to the summit of Mount Sinai are some of
the options that await travelers to this
part of the world. The Red Sea, where coral
reefs and brilliantly-colored sea creatures
thrive, provides a delightful snorkeling
or diving experience. The following are
examples of what we can do:
Extensions within Egypt
Western Oases
The varied oases of Egypt’s
Western Desert are unspoiled refuges from
the modern world. Large inland lakes and
natural thermal springs are lined by shady
date palms and olive trees providing shelter
for migratory birds and desert animals.
Water wheels were introduced here in the
3rd century BCE, and lush agricultural
land has supported both ancient and modern
settlements. We suggest a minimum of 4
days/3 nights to explore the Western Oases
by 4WD with a specialist desert guide.
Red Sea Resorts
Enjoy a few days in one
of the resort towns of Sharm El Sheik (on
the peninsula) or Hurghada (mainland).
A virtual paradise for divers and snorkelers,
the Red Sea is a treasure trove of coral
reefs, shipwrecks and exotic tropical fish.
St. Catherine’s Monastery
and Mount Sinai
Built in the 6th century, St. Catherine’s
Monastery contains the Chapel of the Burning
Bush, Mosaic of the Transfiguration of
Christ, and a library of early Christian
manuscripts. Beyond the monastery a well-worn
rock staircase of 3750 steps lead to the
summit of Mount Sinai. It is best to climb
at sunrise or late afternoon to avoid the
heat of the day and enjoy the changing
light and colors of the desert landscape.
Extensions in Jordan
Red-Rose City of Petra
The
classical highlights of Jordan in a 4-day/3-night
extension. From Amman travel the Kings
Highway to Petra, sightseeing enroute.
Two nights at Petra give you a full day
to explore this World Heritage site. Return
to Amman via the Desert Highway.
Incense & Myrrh
This
camel-back day trip follows part of the
ancient caravans’ Incense
Route between Aqaba and Wadi Rum.
Dead Sea Resorts
The
unique environment of the Dead Sea, located
at the lowest
point on earth, offers therapeutic mud
baths, mineral waters and health spas.
