Every year in Botswana the lands are fed by floodwaters coming from far away Angola. The slowly seeping water gives life to plants and quiet streams where hippos wallow and crocodiles lie in wait for zebra and gazelle to drink along the banks. These plains game keep a watchful eye for lion, the top predator in this enormous ecosystem spread over 6800 square miles. Our Wings Safari combines the varied landscapes of the Okavango Delta with the drier Linyanti region, known for its high concentrations of elephants. Begin in Victoria Falls, and stand in the spray of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Our Classic itinerary features small, intimate camps in the wilderness with private bathrooms facilities and top quality wildlife guides.

DAYS 1-2 :  LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA
Arrive into Livingstone Airport where you'll be met after passing through customs. Your first nights in Africa are spent at Islands of Siankaba, situated on two densely forested islands in the mighty Zambezi River. Enjoy the shaded pool or relax in the comfort of the open lounge and bar. Each room is set amongst the indigenous trees, constructed of teak and canvas, and accessed by an elevated walkway. Relax on your own private deck overlooking the Zambezi River. Included during your stay is a trip to the Falls, sundown cruise on the Zambezi River, mokoro (traditional dug out canoe) trips, hiking trails, village/school visits and fishing trips for the elusive Tiger Fish.  Two nights at Islands of Siankaba [D on day 1, BLD on Day 2]

In the dry Linyanti area animals congregate at watering holes where we observe them from carefully constructed hides.
DAYS 3-4 :  DUMA TAU CAMP AND THE LINYANTI WILDLIFE RESERVE
Depart Victoria Falls this morning for the road transfer across the border and into Botswana. In Kasane, you'll board your first light aircraft flight into the wilderness, arriving in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Elephants are one of the prime attractions - especially during the dry months of June - August when they are forced to congregate along the waterways and around waterholes. Game drives and boat trips reveal Red lechwe, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe, as well as predators such as lion, cheetah, wild dog, and hyena. Being a private reserve, there are opportunities for night drives to find Bushbabies, Spring Hare, Aardwolf, Serval, and Genet. Your base is Duma Tau, a 10 roomed tented camp built on raised boardwalks under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, overlooking a large hippo-filled lagoon on the Linyanti waterways. The source of the Savuti Channel is close to the camp and game drives along the Savuti are one of the highlights. Enjoy the sounds of the African night from the comfort of your spacious canvas room. In addition to the en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, each room also has an outside shower. The main lodge includes a dining room, lounge and plunge pool.

Set out by mokoro or boat to watch the elephants crossing between islands in the delta.
DAYS 5-6 :  JACANA CAMP AND THE OKAVANGO DELTA
Fly from Duma Tau to Jacana Camp this morning. Situated outside the Moremi Game Reserve on the Jao flats, Jacana Camp is a truly water-oriented camp and offers mokoro and walking safaris all year round. The camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for Sitatunga and Red Lechwe. Other game sightings regularly include elephant, lion, hyena and Buffalo. Pels Fishing Owl is a favorite amongst birders, as well as greater and lesser Jacanas. The camps accommodations are limited to only five meru-style tents, each built on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains. Each ensuite bathroom is enclosed, but roofless, allowing for showers under the stars. The main dining area is on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and surrounded by dense wild date palms. Overnight two nights at Jacana Camp or similar [BLD]

Game drives in open safari vehicles offer excellent photographic opportunities.
DAYS 7-9 :  CHITABE CAMP- OKAVANGO DELTA
A scenic flight over the Delta takes you to Chitabe Camp. Chitabe is on a large island in the heart of the Delta where prolific wildlife is seen on day and night game drives. Area wildlife includes elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and cheetah, as well as a pack of wild dog who regularly den near the Camp. Night drives give rewarding opportunities to see pangolin, civet, genet, porcupine, caracal, and aardwolf. The 8-roomed tented camp is built on one of the most beautiful islands in the Okavango Delta, a private area that is bordered on three sides by the Moremi Game Reserve. Accommodation is in spacious tents built on elevated wooden decks beneath the lush tree canopy. The thatched dining area, lounge and pub are also raised on decks overlooking the surrounding flood plains. A pool allows you to cool off from the heat of the day. Shorter nature walks are also offered. Overnight three nights at Chitabe Camp or similar. [BLD]

DAY 10 :  DEPARTURE
Depart Chitabe today for your flight to Maun, arriving in time to connect to your onward international flights. [B]

NOTE: This is a suggested itinerary only.  We are able to substitute camps and change the itinerary to suit your exact travel requirements.  Please contact us for more detailed information on others camps and lodges available.
