Return to the wild on this active safari in Zambia, including an optional night under the stars in the wilderness of South Luangwa National Park with a bed roll and a mosquito net (no tent) like the early African explorers. Explore the wilds of South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks on foot, by canoe, and in specially outfitted 4 x 4 safari vehicles with expert wildlife guides who lead us into some of the most remote protected African habitats teeming with wildlife. Warm up to Africa and your big adventure ahead at the thundering Victoria Falls accommodated at a quiet upriver lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River.
The real adventure begins with a short flight over the rift valley escarpment into the heart of the Zambian bush in the South Luangwa River Valley where we are based from two secluded and intimate wilderness camps famed for their expert tracking guides where African walking safaris began. While our gear is transported we walk 5 miles from Luwi to Nsolo bushcamps tracking game through habitat where wild dogs roam amongst herds of buffalo, giraffe, elephant, and wildebeest. This epic safari concludes paddling along the shores of Lower Zambezi National Park among pods of hippos where elephants approach to drink the cool waters. Here we explore this expansive wildlife sanctuary by canoe, boat, and vehicle. This active itinerary is for the adventurous safari traveler in small groups or couples seeking to experience exceptional African wilderness with other like-minded explorers.
