Program Director // Asia

The Asia Program Director works with a high degree of autonomy in a collaborative team atmosphere and is responsible for strategic destination development, itinerary design, customer sales, and administration of group and individual travel arrangements for active, well-educated, and experienced travelers.  Requires destination knowledge in SE Asia and the Indian sub-continent primarily including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

Destination Sales 

Apply detailed destination knowledge, field experience, and sales skills to develop trusted and confident customer relationships; research, create and edit professional travel documents; provide a high level of customer service including quick response times, lead follow-ups, professional and personal client-centric communication. 
Destination Marketing
Help create a smart marketing strategy for the region; provide marketing content for itineraries, website, e-news and special promotions; prepare and present travel presentations; promote company brand and key messaging.
Client Services
Oversee client reservations database and documents; maintain pre-departure information and respond to customer pre-departure queries; coordinate air services as needed; resolution of customer service issues; assist with emergency phone coverage on a rotating basis; provide backup sales coverage on other destinations as necessary.
Client and Supplier Accounts Management
Oversee client accounts receivable; request quotes for itineraries; update published trip pricing in a timely basis; review outfitter invoices and submit to operations for payment. 

Travel Program/Itinerary Development
Develop and vet local tour providers; apply your detailed destination knowledge and field experience to enhance your travel program; develop itineraries and meaningful travel experiences collaborating with in-country suppliers and guides; represent the company in FAM trips/trade shows. 
Conservation and Community Development
Oversee local conservation and community development projects supported by trip proceeds.  Connect interested clients with company-supported conservation and community projects.  Identify possible new projects for Travelers Conservation Trust, the non-profit arm of Wildland Adventures.

Qualifications preferred for this position include: 2 years travel professional work with extensive industry knowledge and experience in active/specialty trip development and sales, tour operations and guest services. Knowledge of travel and tourism in SE Asia and the Indian sub-continent including adventure travel logistics, local tour operators, accommodations and related tourism services throughout the region.  Additional requirements include exceptional written and verbal customer communications skills, excellent grammar and English language ability, highly organized and detail-oriented, vibrant and confident telephone presence, and versatility in defining and completing a variety of tasks. Computer proficiency required. 

Compensation: Salary BOE plus incentives based on performance.

Benefits: Major medical (in WA state only), travel, paid holidays and sick leave, vacations, optional bi-weekly 4-day work week.
Travel: Up to 3-4 weeks per year on educational trips to develop and maintain detailed destination knowledge for sales and program development expertise.
