Undiscovered Europe: Slovenia and Montenegro
February 11, 2012 10:00am - The Savvy Traveler, Edmonds, WA

Begin the day hiking beneath snow-capped alpine peaks and finish by dipping a toe in the turquoise Adriatic while raising a glass of a local wine you picked up along the way. Welcome to Slovenia and the Balkans. Here you'll find the Europe you thought had passed - undisturbed emerald hills, thick forests, deep caves systems, magnificent lakes and of course friendly locals, fiercely proud of their traditions and heritage and happy to share their history and stories with inquisitive travelers. Wildland Adventure's Balkan specialists Kirsten Gardner and Tad Bradley share their recent travel experiences to this undiscovered corner of Europe. Learn how you can easily combine a trip to Italy or Austria with a visit to the Balkans. Tad and Kirsten will share their favorite lodges, hikes, meals and magical, off-the-beaten track Balkan moments.

Discover the possibilities for exploration and personal discovery in the diverse lands of the Peruvian Andes and Amazon. We venture beyond being simply a "tourist" and endeavor to experience the simple rhythms of daily life, the mystical and sublime, traveling by a multitude of means that fit your style and budget. We'll explore the variety of options for visiting Machu Picchu whether by trekking the Inca Trail or riding the train. Then we'll travel by land over the Andes and by dugout canoe through the Amazon into Manu National Park, home of the most biologically diverse rain forests on earth.
