Knowledge is Security: Report from Tanzania

By Willie Chambulo

Where there has been some improvements in security around Tanzania, it has not been very noticeable with the exception of increased checking at the airport. I am on a regional security board and there have been no special alerts or security issues in the country because there have not been any threats or incidents. I would rate Tanzania as one of the most safe destinations still to go not because I am Tanzanian, but it's the truth.

The people of Tanzania, including Muslims, love tourists and Americans in particular. This is especially true in the northern zone where we do not have strong Muslim influence, where local people have no idea about what exactly happened in the world. They just make fun of it as they are not busy. Who is Bin Ladden to stop people to enjoy?  People have to move forward with their daily life and if we cannot we show how we fear the ist. We shall not allow this to happen. We shall not make him a hero and famous. We shall make him totally useless if we're united and we never allow this devil to rule us.

At this time, many of the hotels throughout Tanazania (and Kenya for that matter) are fully booked for many months in advance. Tourism is booming once again!
