Seal of Aproval
By Allie Almario
As a charter member of The International Galapagos Tour Operators Association (IGTOA), Wildland Adventures supports a certification program for yachts operating in the Galapagos Islands. The aptly named SmartVoyager sets high standards for boat owners, operators, crew and naturalist guides to ensure that visitors enjoy a safe, memorable, and educational adventure while preserving the natural habitat of the land and marine environments. Comprehensive guidelines range from requiring good living conditions and advanced training for the boat crew and guides, to listing which vegetable and animal products are prohibited from transportation between the islands. Once the boat is in compliance with the standards, the craft is certified and allowed to display the SmartVoyager seal of approval.
As a member organization our mission is to preserve the Galapagos Islands as a unique world heritage that can provide education, adventure, and inspiration to future generations of travelers. Collectively, we have a strong voice in the future of the islands. We share information between member companies, including critiques and evaluations by our passengers which help us make sure you have the best and safest experience. Each company member assesses itself a fee for every passenger it sends to the Galapagos. These funds help support the Charles Darwin Foundation and many other conservation and community development programs.
Be a SmartVoyager and travel to the Galapagos with Wildland Adventures on our Galapagos Wildlife Odyssey small yacht charters.
