The November 2007 issue of National Geographic Adventure magazine released results of an extensive survey of hundreds of travel companies worldwide and Wildland Adventures scored 94.3%  ranking us 4th in the "Do-It-All" category among the "Best Outfitters On Earth!"

We are especially honored on our 20th Anniversary to be rated near the top when judged against so many other outstanding adventure travel companies knowing this research survey was conducted by National Geographic editors and staff, with support from travel and tourism networks like the Adventure Council, Adventures in Travel Expos, and the Adventure Travel Trade Association to survey hundreds of companies throughout the world.

Scores were based on:

  • Education
  • Sustainability
  • Quality of Service
  • Spirit of Adventure

The highest rated companies were then ranked according to customer service and experience based on feedback from interviews they conducted with our travelers. We are proud and thankful that you hold us in such high regard and we will endeavor to exceed your expectations in years ahead.

''Congrats on all that Wildland Adventures has done over the last 20 years to earn the recognition," wrote Fran Farrell National Geographic Adventure publisher.  "This [survey] is an elegant way to measure the equity you have established in the minds of people who have explored the world with you.  Great to see leaders like you getting the recognition you worked so hard to earn.''

"Although fine meals and high thread counts are nice", wrote National Geographic editors, they ranked Wildland Adventures at the top for "...teaching their clients about the places they visit, pushing the frontiers of discovery and adventure, and giving back to the planet." The particular Wildland Adventure they highlighted was our new Maasailand Safari: Living Among The Maasai, an extraordinary opportunity to combine wildlife safaris in the great game parks of Kenya with a profound cross-cultural experience that will change your perspective on life.

This safari was also selected in the October issue of National Geographic Traveler magazine's 50 Best Trips of a Lifetime for "...the truly authentic experiences that delve deep and provide uncommon access for interaction with indigenous people." Based from specially built guest bungalows in the Maasai village of Merrushi, we explore the African savanna on foot with Maasai warriors, share stories with elders, discuss world issues of common concern, learn about wildlife conservation and animal husbandry, womens issues, rites of passage, and discover the fine arts of beading, traditional healing, music and dance. We especially recommended this trip for families, school groups and others who seek experiential learning and cultural insights among indigenous peoples.
