Maasai Mara Game Reserve
No other place on earth compares with the multitude of wild animals found in Kenya's Maasai Mara Game Reserve, part of the vast Serengeti Ecosystem spanning from Kenya to Tanzania. During the summer months (approx. July September/October) the Great Migration, over 1.5 million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra, inhabit the Maasai Mara. The enormous congregation of animals provides sustenance to myriad predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena. Visit the Mara or Talek Rivers to view pods of hippos and huge crocodiles, and if youre lucky, watch as herds of wildebeest and zebra attempt to across the river avoiding the snapping jaws of the hungry crocodiles. Year-round the Mara is a haven for a plethora of African wildlife. Maasai giraffe and impala graze in the woodlands, elephant lumber along and cheetah teach their young to hunt. While Maasai (with three a's) is the correct spelling, Masai is also commonly used.
