Adventure Vacations from the Experts

Stretch the imagination of your kids and be touched by the spirit of the Andes and the Amazon on a Wildland Family Adventure in Peru. We unravel the mysteries of the ancient Inca ambling among the massive stone ruins of Machu Picchu and ancient fortresses as our native Quechua guides recount fierce battles and amazing stories describing the empire of their descendants 500 years ago. Kids are free to make their own discoveries in a fun and relaxed style as we design daily activities and guided excursions geared to the abilities and insights of young participants and their parents. Opportunities abound to experience the simplicity of daily life as we visit native villages, markets and schools, hike among farmers plowing fields and women spinning wool as they graze llamas and alpacas, listen to traditional Andean music, learn about weaving and try a hand at pottery-making. For the really brave souls you can even try the local specialty, cuy—that’s guinea pig! Choose a scheduled family departure of our more easy-going lodge-based Andes and Amazon Odyssey, or the Inca Trail Trek plus Amazon for teens who want to hike and camp through the Andes and travel deep into the Amazon to the Tambopata Macaw Research Center. Group size is limited and custom trips are easily created to sites throughout Peru, Bolivia and the Galapagos for individual families who prefer private arrangements.
