and Climate
The
weather in Ecuador is exceptionally difficult
to predict. The diverse landscape creates
countless microclimates that cause varied
weather in neighboring geographical locations.
Although there are some seasonal weather
variations, these conditions generally
do not limit travel to any particular time
of the year. The more popular travel periods
correspond more to vacation schedules in
North America and Europe than any particular
season within the country itself.
The valleys and surrounding hillsides
of Quito are situated in the Andes at an
altitude
of 9,000 feet. Climate is Spring-like throughout
the year with variations ranging from occasional
hail showers and cold temperatures at night,
to very typical warm and sunny days. Daytime
temperatures average 67° F and evening
average is 50° F. Expect more rainfall
in this region of the Andes from October
to May when precipitation consistently
falls for a few hours in the afternoon
and the lush agricultural hillsides are
a vibrant green. If your travels take you to the Amazonian
rain forest, be prepared for rain any time
of the year, especially from March to October.
