Style in Chile
Personalized, Flexible Itinerary
Working directly with specialized regional
guides and outfitters throughout Chile
and Argentina, we will help you select
the best itinerary and design your Wildland
Adventure to fit your style of travel.
Although all trips are active, outdoor
explorations of wildlife, culture and
spectacular scenery, you can choose between
lodge-based day hikes or more extensive
hiking and trekking trips in Patagonia
based from our comfortable, deluxe camps.
You can easily combine both countries,
beginning or ending in Santiago or Buenos
Aires by either crossing the Lakes District,
traveling overland in Patagonia, or via
our small ship natural history voyage
through the fjords of Tierra del Fuego,
"In the Wake of Magellan". Although
we offer side-trips hiking in the Fitzroy
massif, we did not include this region
in our scheduled itineraries because the
distance, time and cost to get there,
given the inclement weather and poor hiking
conditions, make for better time spent
in Torres del Paine. We offer many possible
trip extensions and extra hotel nights
on request. You will get the best value
from your trip by joining one of our scheduled
group departures set up in advance with
our best guides. We can also design a
custom itinerary according to your interests
and travel dates (in which case we request
a $50 custom trip planning deposit).
Accommodations and Meals
We select accommodations with comfort,
service and charm characteristic of the
region. There are often more luxurious
hotels or lavish estancias and lodges,
and we are pleased to upgrade at extra
cost, especially recommended for honeymoon
travelers. In some regions, particularly
in Torres del Paine, space is limited
by small lodges and hosterias with variable
room configurations. Book early for the
best chances of securing our preferred
hotel choices. Cuisine is fresh with plentiful
fish in Chile and meat in Argentina. Special
dietary requests can easily be accommodated.
Many regional hotels and lodges serve
homemade bread, jam, fresh garden salads,
meat off the range, trout from local streams,
and everywhere you will enjoy local New
World wines. Dinners on camping and trekking
trips include appetizers, soups, salads,
and deserts, with entrées of chicken,
beef, lamb or pasta.
Air Arrangements and Connections
We offer low bulk rate fares to Santiago
or Buenos Aires. You can fly into one
city and out of the other. We will also
book your in-country domestic flights
(included in land costs) through our local
representatives who will deliver your
tickets upon arrival and assist you with
any flight changes during your trip. December-February
is summer vacation for Chileans and Argentines
so flights to and within both countries
may be sold out for months in advance,
especially in December. Plan your travel
arrangements far in advance, especially
if you intend to extend your trip. Most
international flights arrive into Buenos
Aires or Santiago in the morning after
a 12-hour flight from the US. In most
cases, it is possible to make same day
connections onward to other locations
in Argentina or Chile. In this manner,
you can bypass an overnight in the capital
city, although it makes for a very long
travel day. It is not possible to use
discounted "Air Passes" for
local flights since you will need to use
a combination of different domestic air
carriers for internal flights to coincide
with your land itinerary. Therefore, Wildland
Adventures reserves all the local flights
in Chile and Argentina to coincide with
your land arrangements. Those tickets
are issued by our local agent for pick
up upon your arrival.
A valid passport is all you need to enter
Chile or Argentina (but a visa is required
to Brazil).
