Style in Bolivia
The possibilities for personal discovery
and adventure are limitless on a Wildland
Adventure in the Andes, Amazon and Altiplano
(high plains) of Bolivia. You will probably
want to visit the ancient Inca capital
of Cusco, and either take the train or
trek to the world-famous citadel of Machu
Picchu, and a visit to the most ecologically-rich
part of Amazon rain forest, in southern
Peru. You can expand your experience by
adding an overnight in the Sacred Valley
of the Incas, perhaps a rafting or mountain
biking excursion, and visiting museums
in Lima. If this is your first trip to
the Andes, you will probably want to combine
the Andes and the Amazon to experience
the full range of habitats and cultures.
You can begin your trip in La Paz, Bolivia
and extend your trip to Cusco to include
Machu Picchu, then conclude your adventure
by flying home from Lima.
Spectacular Andean Trekking
We offer a variety of spectacular small-group
treks that follow the vast network of
Inca roads and trails crisscrossing the
Andes. Our frequent departures include
hiking trips on Lake Titikaka and Island
of the Sun based from an ecolodge, the
Cordillera Real Llama Trek, the Takesi
and Choro Trail treks, and trips to the
Uyuni Salt Flats. All our treks are fully
outfitted, with experienced guides, cooks,
porters, and tasty meals. You carry only
your day pack with camera, jacket, lunch,
and water, and simply enjoy!
The Real Amazon
The protected Amazon rain forests of the
Manu National Park and Tambopata-Candamo
Reserve in Peru, and the Alto Madidi and
Noel Kempff Mercado National Parks of
Bolivia are some of the most pristine
natural regions on Earth with the highest
levels of species diversity of rain forest
mammals, birds, and reptiles in the entire
Amazon. Our trips into these rain forests
cannot to be compared with other regions
of the Amazon, such as Explorama or Explornapo
out of Iquitos in northern Peru where
traditional native culture has adapted
to western development and wildlife habitat
suffers from poor soils, commercial exploitation,
human settlement and hunting. Our carefully
designed itineraries offer the best opportunities
for observing tapirs, giant river otters,
monkeys, black caimans, tayras and agoutis,
and with luck possibly even a jaguar or
ocelot.
