You Go to Jordan
The more you know about the destination and the conditions
you can expect on your Wildland Adventure, the more you
will enjoy your experience. We invite you to call our destination
specialists at 1-800-345-4453 so that we can answer any
questions or concerns. The following information will also
help you prepare for the exciting experience ahead and
enable you to get the very most from your trip.
Air Travel Arrangements
We are pleased to assist you with your flights to Jordan.
We offer discounted bulk rate fares with preferred airlines
and are familiar with the best schedules and routingfor
international flights for into Amman. There is no obligation
to purchase your international tickets from Wildland Adventures
although our fares are usually competitive based on advanced
purchase and availability. Tickets for local flights in
Jordan (if applicable) are included in the cost of your
Wildland Adventure and are issued to you in-country. The
principal airlines that we recommend from the U.S. to Amman,
Jordan, are Royal Jordanian nonstop out of New York, United/Lufthansa,
or British Airways. Flights between Egypt and Jordan are
available daily on Royal Jordanian and Egyptair for travelers
who want to visit both destinations.
Health
Once you sign up for a trip, we provide detailed information
about health precautions and possible immunizations for
travel to each destination. A consultation with your doctor,
a local travel clinic, or public health office will help
you decide which medications or inoculations are necessary
for your safe participation on the trip. Wildland Adventures
staff are not licensed medical authorities, however, we
know the exact areas, environments and conditions under
which you will be traveling, all of which can affect the
relative risk of exposure to health conditions and help
you make decisions concerning immunizations and prescription
medicines. Preventative measures against infectious diseases
may require advance planning for immunizations. Pregnant
women and parents traveling with young children should
consult their physician or pediatrician.
With proper precautions, travel to Jordan is very safe.
Its tourism infrastructure is relatively small and developing,
and accommodations vary from five-star luxury hotels to
tented campsites or guesthouses in nature reserves. In
general we use best available accommodations and restaurants,
where the selection of food and drink offered is prepared
in accordance with high standards of health and hygiene.
Drink only bottled water which is widely available, but
you should be sure that the top is properly sealed before
purchasing. Hot weather combined with rich and unusual
foods may cause minor intestinal ailments. As in any developing
country, you want to be careful of what you eat, avoiding
roadside stands. If you have an especially sensitive stomach
we recommend avoiding spicy foods, uncooked vegetables,
and raw fruits and salads. Some people find it helpful
to drink tea with lemon and eat yogurt to prevent stomach
ailments. On any trip to Jordan we recommend that you carry
antiobiotic and antidiarrheal medications with you. In
general you may enjoy all the delicious cuisine of Jordan
offered at your hotels and the local restaurants selected
by our guides.
No immunizations are required for travel to Jordan. Biting
insects are negligible and insect repellant is rarely necessary.
Malaria is of no concern in areas of Jordan on Wildland
Adventures. You should consider vaccination against hepatitis
and typhoid, and all travelers should be up-to-date on
tetanus-diphtheria, measles-mumps-rubella, polio, and chicken
pox immunizations. It is very important to protect yourself
from the intense desert sun with sunscreen, dark glasses
and a hat, and to stay well hydrated.
