The Mediterranean is the world's leading
tourist destination. Beyond the sun, sand
and laid back lifestyle of this warm clime,
the region is fertile land for adventure,
archaeology, botanical diversity, immersion

cuisine. For many civilizations past and
present, the Mediterranean is the middle
of the Earth, where Africa meets Asia,
Asia meets Europe, and Europe meets Africa.
It is both a great meeting place, and a
region where the East-West and North-South
divides maintain a complex cultural and
political milieu. Ancient trading cultures
like the Phoenician, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan,
Carthaginian or Roman civilizations criss-crossed
the sea and extended their influences throughout
the realm. However far you go in the region,
no matter how inaccessible into the interior,
