Cape Town has so much to offer with beautiful beaches, dramatic coastline along the Indian and Atlantic oceans, a cosmopolitan center and world class wine country only an hour away.  This five day itinerary is a suggestion only and we would be happy to customize your days in the Cape to meet your exact interests and travel style. Since all international flights for trips to Southern Africa fly into South Africa, we are pleased to offer this easily added extension to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Find out what's happening in Cape Town now!

DAY 1 :  ARRIVE CAPE TOWN

Arrive in Cape Town where youll be met and transferred into the city to your accommodations for the next few days.  Comfortable and wonderfully hosted, Gingko Guesthouse is built on the slopes of Table Mountain and overlooks the city and harbor. You have time to relax at the guesthouse this afternoon or you can set out to explore straight away. An afternoon Cape Town city tour serves as an introduction to this beautiful city that is both surprisingly cosmopolitan yet third world at the same time.  Your evening is free to explore the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.  Overnight Gingko Guesthouse. [Meals on your own]

Visit beautiful Boulders Beach and the African Penguins who make their nests there.
DAY 2 :  TWO OCEANS COASTLINE AND KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS

This full day of exploration showcases the Cape Peninsula and the Kirstenbosch Gardens.  Begin with a drive down the Atlantic coastline with its stunning mountain and sea views, pausing for photo opportunities along the coastal road. Stop and walk along Noordhoek beach before continuing through the valley to Kommetjie and Scarborough, little hamlets on the Atlantic Coast.  At certain times of year, there is a chance to see Southern Right Whales, which come into this bay to mate and calve. A walk to the old lighthouse in the Cape of Good Hope Nature yields spectacular views of False Bay.  Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants along the coast before visiting Boulders Beach to view the African Penguins.  The last stop of the day is at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where a brief time is spent walking through the magnificent display of flora the Cape has to offer.  Overnight Gingko Guesthouse [BL]

DAY 3 :  ROBBEN ISLAND AND TOWNSHIP TOUR

Your morning visit to the Guguletu Township is an eye opening experience that allows you to interact with the African community that lives here.  Learn about their lively music and native theologies on this very personalized tour run by the local community.  An afternoon ferry ride takes you across the bay to Robben Island.  Here you have the opportunity to learn about the history of the island, its native animals and the political prison where Nelson Mandela was held captive.  Your guide on Robben Island was one of the political prisoners held captive under the old Nationalist government and shares his memories of the daily life and conditions in the prison.  A half hour ferry ride takes you back to Cape Town where you set off on a leisurely hike up Lions Head in time to watch the sun go down over this beautiful city. Overnight Gingko Guesthouse [BL]

Visit Table Mountain and the bustling Victoria & Alfred Waterfront during your exploration of Cape Town.
DAY 4 :  TABLE MOUNTAIN AND STELLENBOSCH WINELANDS

Another exciting day of discovery starts with a journey on the new Rotair cable car that takes under 5 minutes to reach the summit of Table Mountain, 1036 meters above sea level.  The views of the city and surrounds are spectacular and there is a chance to walk around the top of the table to view various parts of the city.  Heading away from the city, you have the rest of the day to explore South Africas oldest wine route and visit a few of the award wining estates that the region is famed for.   Enjoy wine tasting, cellar tours and a picnic lunch on the immaculate lawns of one of our favorite estates.   In the heart of the Stellenbosch wine region is Spier Wine Estate where we have reserved a table for you to enjoy dinner at the Moyo Restaurant, a unique Cape African dining experience.  Overnight at the Devon Valley Hotel in Stellenbosch or similar. [BLD]

DAY 5 :  DEPART

Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flights. [B]

We offer an upgraded itinerary with accommodations at the Cape Grace or Kensington Place and The Franschoek. Please call for details.
