Wash off the safari dust on this seaside extension. Enjoy the tropical island of Lamu, where relaxing is the order of the day and the ocean breezes are only broken by the gentle laughter of the friendly locals.

DAYS 1-3 :  LAMU ISLAND
In Nairobi transfer to the local Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Lamu Island. The oldest city in Kenya, Lamu is now a sleepy town without cars, where donkey carts are the main mode of transportation and old men watch kids play ball games in the street. Upon arrival youll be met by your hosts at Peponi Hotel. Take these days to relax on this idyllic island, with options to snorkel, sport fish, take dhow trips, or just wander the narrow streets.

Let the ocean soothe you during your stay at the Peponi Hotel where you can enjoy a view of the ocean from your private verandah.  Swahili dcor enhances the individually decorated rooms, all with private baths and fresh flowers. Seafood is a passion at Peponi with Mangrove crabs, warm water lobster, and giant prawns all making an appearance. A Swahili menu is also available, eaten in the traditional way on the floor around a huge brass platter.  Leisurely lunches are served from 12-4pm, often at the fresh water pool. Overnight for 3 nights at the Peponi Hotel. [BLD]

DAY 4 :  DEPARTURE

This morning is free at Peponi hotel and after taking lunch youll transfer to the Lamu airstrip for your return flight to Wilson airport in Nairobi where you'll be taken to the international airport for your departing flight. [BL]
