Witness the array of animals undisturbed in their native habitat as you walk in community reserves and take game drives in the perennial game haunts of the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. Visit Maasai villages and share conversation, music, dance and culture with native people. Walk with Maasai guides and learn about survival in the bush. At ease in 4WD vehicles, follow wildlife movements as expert naturalist guides track game. Ideally situated in comfortable mobile tented camps, relish hot water showers, flush toilets and wine with dinner. These camps are complimented by the Ngorongoro Farmhouse, an organic farm house on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, and a permanent tented camp in Tarangire. Observe the dramatic spectacle of the herds from above on an optional balloon safari in the Serengeti. Consider an extension to the spice island of Zanzibar or an additional safari in Kenya.

DAY 1 :  ARUSHA
Meet your local guide upon arrival into Arusha and the start of your Wild Tanzania Safari. Transfer to Momma Wilson's guesthouse and delight in being graciously hosted in your African home away from home. Relax and recover from your travels in this secluded neighborhood home filled with local flowers and lush tropical gardens. Overnight at Momma Wilson's Guesthouse. [Meals on own]

Observe big, bull elephants at close range from open vehicles in Masai land at Sinya.
DAYS 2-3 :  SINYA CONCESSION AT THE FOOT OF MT. KILIMANJARO
Discover what's ahead in a morning briefing before setting out on a scenic 3-4 hour drive to Sinya, a private reserve located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This reserve is the culmination of years of work establishing a strong relationship with local Maasai communities. In a mutually beneficial relationship, the camp contributes to the well-being of the local people and in exchange, wildlife is protected and flourishes. Observe Sinya's herbivore rich wildlife with zebra, wildebeest, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, Maasai giraffe, huge elephants, eland and rare species like lesser kudu and gerenuk all frequenting the reserve. Monitor bull elephants, abundant in this area, many of them migrating from the nearby Amboseli Reserve in Kenya.

Sinya has a unique relationship with the local Maasai community. Journey to traditional Africa and learn about the language and way of life of some of the last nomadic pastoralists on Earth. Visit Maasai manyattas (villages), play with the engaging children, enjoy singing and dancing, or take a guided walk with a Maasai warrior, all under the majestic presence of Mount Kilimanjaro. Two nights lodging at Kambi ya Tembo . [BLD]

DAYS 4-5 :  TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Pack up and depart Sinya in the morning. Stretch your legs and enjoy lunch in Arusha before continuing south to Tarangire National Park. Noted for its primeval landscape, Tarangire is dotted with majestic baobab trees that dwarf the animals feeding beneath them. The habitat supports a great diversity of wildlife including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, zebra and predators such as lion, leopard, and cheetah. Most notably, up to 6,000 elephants inhabit the park during the dry season from July to November. Witness these magnificent beasts on game drives. Additional options include learning how to live off the land as you walk in concession areas surrounding the park with Maasai guides, village visits, and a stop at a women's cooperative craft center. Overnights at Maramboi Camp. [BLD]

Our Masai guides teach you about the bush and share their nomadic culture.
DAY 6 :  LAKE MANYARA-KARATU
Leave Tarangire and drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley and up the escarpment to the trading center of Karatu. Stop to mingle with the locals at the captivating markets or visit a primary school in the area. Drive to the 500 acre Ngorongoro Farm House, located in the Ngorongoro Highlands only 5 kms. from the Ngorongoro gate.  Overnight at the Ngorongoro Farm House. [BLD]

DAY 7 :  NGORONGORO CRATER
Descend into the stunning Ngorongoro Crater and watch resident animals, found here throughout the year due to the permanent availability of grass and water. Ngorongoro is one of the most spectacular game haunts in Africa and has been designated a World Heritage site. This nearly 100 square mile caldera basin contains an impressive variety of wildlife including black-maned lions, the highly endangered black rhino, herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephants, hippo and hyena, the most important predator within the crater. Bird life is also prolific with flocks of flamingoes on the soda lake plus other species of water and plains birds. Overnight at the Ngorongoro Farm House [BLD]

Top predators in the Serengeti, lions can be observed at a morning kill.
DAYS 8-10 :  SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Fortify yourself with breakfast before departing for Serengeti National Park. Stop enroute at Olduvai Gorge to visit the impressive interpretive center built on the archaeological site where the Leakeys discovery of Australopithecus, Homo habilis and Homo erectus brought crucial understanding of human evolution. The Serengeti is one of the most productive habitats and impressive wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Witness a portion of the 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra concentrated in vast herds as they migrate through the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. In February-March they concentrate at the Ndutu and Salei plains to the south where the calving season takes place, attracting the attention of predators like lion, cheetah and hyena. In March and April the herds begin to gather and by June they are usually on the move North towards the Maasai Mara in Kenya. On the Serengeti the kopjes, massive islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, provide much needed shelter to a great variety of plants and animals all the way from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. Enjoy four nights at our intimate Private Classic Camp, set in a wilderness area. Depending on the season and movement of the animals campsites include Moru Kopjes, Lobo area, Seronera or the Western Corridor. Consider taking an optional hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti and marvel at the animals and landscape from above! (Hot air ballooning at additional cost of $479 per person and dependent on camp location.) [BLD]

DAY 11 :  SERENGETI-ARUSHA
Savor one last chance to absorb the sights and sounds of the African animal kingdom on a final morning game drive across the Serengeti plains to the Seronera Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Arusha. (Overland option available upon request). Put your feet up in a day room at Momma Wilson's before dinner and your transfer to the airport. Consider optional extensions to safari in Kenya, or unwind on a tropical island in the Indian Ocean at Zanzibar, Tanzania or Lamu, Kenya. [BD]
