Tanzania & Zanzibar Honeymoon
Live the romance of the African bush honeymooning under canvas and starry skies, and lounging on pristine beaches. Our Tanzania Honeymoon Safari pairs northern Tanzania's premier parks and reserves with the exotic island of Zanzibar. Accompanied by your private safari guide and crew, traverse through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the vast plains of the Serengeti. Witness diverse wildlife and learn about Maasai culture while you unwind in deluxe, full service camps and premier ecolodges. Enjoy candlelit dinners and fine wines on the savannah, and personal service throughout your Tanzania honeymoon. Conclude your overland safari with several relaxing days of R&R (rest and romance) in the tropical paradise of the "Spice Islands" of Zanzibar.
DAY 1 : ARUSHA Upon arrival into Arusha you are met and transferred to the Olasiti Lodge, is a garden oasis just outside bustling Arusha. The lodge offers a perfect haven for visitors recovering from a long haul flight complete with spacious en suite rooms, a restaurant, pool, internet cafe, and curio shop. Overnight at Olasiti Lodge.
DAYS 2-3 : ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK - TARANGIRE Departing after breakfast, set out for a morning game drive in Arusha National Park, with its lush forests and swamps. This park is also home to Mount Meru, the fourth highest peak in Africa, and the alkaline Momella Lakes. Bird life is abundant, and this is a great place to see the beautiful Black and White Colobus monkey. Giraffes, hippos, rhino and other large game may also be seen. You will depart in the afternoon to Kikoti Camp in Tarangire.

Tarangire's Famous Baobabs at sunset!
The "Baobab Capital of the World," Tarangire is known for its elephants, wild landscapes, and diverse habitats. The Tarangire River is the only permanent water source in this region and the park attracts many animals during the dry season (June to November). Overnight at Kikoti Camp or similar. [BLD]
DAY 4 : LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK Morning departure for Lake Manyara. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is a beautiful park with ground water forest, acacia woodlands, bushy areas, and a soda lake. Visit the hippo pool, and see the flamingos coloring the lake pink from a distance. Overnight at Plantation Lodge in the honeymoon suite. [BLD]

DAYS 5-6 : NGORONGORO CRATER Today you head to Ngorongoro Crater, truly one of the wonders of the world. Arrive at the Crater in time for an afternoon game drive. Designated as a World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro is home to an array of big game animals including the endangered black rhinoceros. Spectacular animal life can be found throughout the year due to the permanent availability of grass and water. Local wildlife includes black maned lion, black rhino, wildebeest, zebra, elephant, hippo, jackal, and hyena. The bird life is also prolific with flocks of flamingos on the soda lake as well as other species of water and plains birds. On the afternoon of Day 6 walk with your guide and a Park ranger in the Ngorongoro Highlands with beautiful views down into Lake Eyasi. Overnight at Plantation Lodge or similar. [BLD]
DAYS 7-9 : SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND HOT AIR BALLOON SAFARI In the morning, you will drive further up the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley past Ngorongoro to the Serengeti National Park, viewing wildlife en route to your camp. The Serengeti National Park is perhaps the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. These vast, seemingly unending plains, are inhabited during the migration by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra. Large herds of wildebeest and zebra concentrate at the Ndutu and Salei plains or in the Ikoma/Grumeti region, attracting the attention of predators like the lion, cheetah, and hyena. There are plenty of chances to view game in the Serengeti at any time of year.

Float over the Serengeti plains on a hot air balloon safari.
Another interesting feature of the Serengeti is the massive granite kopjes, or islands of rock standing in a sea of grass, which provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals--from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. These activities are left up to the guide's suggestion in order to take full advantage of the movements of the wildlife. Overnight for three nights at Simiyu Camp, which moves locations throughout the year to maximize proximity to wildlife. [BLD] Ask about adding an unforgettable sunrise float in a hot air balloon capped off by a champagne breakfast for an additional cost of $450 per person to our Tanzania Honeymoon safaris.
DAYS 10-13 : PRISTINE BEACHES AT MATEMWE BUNGALOWS Morning flight from the Serengeti airstrip to Arusha. After a farewell lunch, transfer to the airport for a flight to Zanzibar Island. Head for the East Coast of the Island for a few relaxing days on the pristine beaches in the sun at Matemwe Bungalows. Matemwe's 14 bungalows look out to the azure Indian ocean, and a private beach is covered with powdery white sand.

Spend the next few days enjoying the peaceful beach resort and various activities offered, like fishing, day and night diving, dhow trips, and snorkeling. (Cost of activities is not included.) Overnight at Matemwe Bungalows. [BLD]
DAY 14 : DEPARTURE Enjoy breakfast and one last stroll on the beach before transferring back to the Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Dar Es Salaam or Nairobi, connecting with your international departure. [B]
