Honeymoon in the wilds of Africa--within the primeval origins of man, woman and beast. Accompanied by your private professional guide and safari crew, you traverse through Northern Tanzania's premier parks and game reserves including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the vast plains of the Serengeti. Witness spectacular wildlife spectacles and learn about African ecology and Maasai cultural traditions by day, accommodated in deluxe, full service camps and premier ecolodges with the finest cuisine, wine and accoutrements to take care of your every comfort amongst the wild calls of the night. Conclude your overland safari with several relaxing days of R&R (rest and romance) on the laid-back, tropical paradise of the spice islands of Zanzibar.

DAY 1 :  ARUSHA
Upon arrival into Arusha you are met and transferred to the Momma Wilson's in Arusha. [Meals on your own]

DAYS 2-3 :  ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK - TARANGIRE
Departing after breakfast, set out for a morning game drive in Arusha National Park, with its lush forests and swamps. This park also contains Mount Meru, the fourth highest peak in Africa, and the alkaline Momella Lakes. Bird life is abundant, and this is a great place to see the beautiful Black and White Colobus Monkey. Giraffe, hippos, rhino and other large game may also be seen. Afternoon departure to Tarangire River Camp in Tarangire. Tarangire, the "Baobab Capital of the World," is known for its elephants, wild landscapes and diverse habitats. The Tarangire River is the only permanent water source in this region and the park attracts many animals during the dry season (Jun-Nov). Overnights at Kikoti Camp or similar. [BLD]

A young elephant quenches her thirst in Lake Manyara National Park.
DAY 4 :  LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Morning departure for Lake Manyara. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is a beautiful park with ground water forest, acacia woodlands, bushy areas and a soda lake. Visit the hippo pool, and see the flamingos coloring the lake pink from a distance. Overnight at Plantation Lodge in their honeymoon suite. [BLD]

DAYS 5-6 :  NGORONGORO CRATER
Today you head to Ngorongoro Crater, truly one of the wonders of the world. Arrive at the Crater in time for an afternoon game drive. Designated as a World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro is home to a wealth of big game animals including endangered black rhinoceros. Spectacular animal life can be found throughout the year due to the permanent availability of grass and water. Local wildlife includes black maned lion, black rhino, wildebeest, zebra, elephant, hippo, jackal, and hyena. The bird life is also prolific with flocks of flamingos on the soda lake as well as other species of water and plains birds. On the afternoon of Day 6 walk with your guide and a Park ranger in the Ngorongoro Highlands with beautiful views down into Lake Eyasi. Overnight at Plantation Lodge or similar. [BLD]

Join a balloon safari over the Serengeti.
DAYS 7-9 :  SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND HOT AIR BALLOON SAFARI
Morning drive further up the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley past Ngorongoro to the Serengeti National Park, viewing wildlife en route to your camp. The Serengeti National Park is perhaps the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. These vast, seemingly unending plains, are inhabited during the migration by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra. Large herds of wildebeest and zebra concentrate at the Ndutu and Salei plains or in the Ikoma/Grumeti region, attracting the attention of predators like lion, cheetah and hyena. There is plentiful game viewing in the Serengeti at any time of year! Another interesting feature of the Serengeti is the massive granite kopjes, islands of rock standing in a sea of grass, which provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. These days activities are left up to the guides suggestion in order to take full advantage of the movements of the wildlife. Overnight for three nights at Simiyu Camp, which moves locations throughout the year to maximize proximity to wildlife. [BLD] Depending on camp location ask about adding an unforgettable sunrise float in a hot air balloon capped off by a champagne breakfast for an additional cost of $395 per person.

A perfect honeymoon includes a stay at a romantic beach resort.
DAYS 10-13 :  PRISTINE BEACHES AT MATEMWE BUNGALOWS
Morning flight from the Serengeti airstrip to Arusha. After a farewell lunch, transfer to the airport for a flight to Zanzibar Island. Head for the East Coast of the Island for a few relaxing days with sun and pristine beach at Matemwe Bungalows. Matemwe's 14 bungalows look out to the azure Indian ocean, and a private beach is covered with powdery white sand. Spend the next few days enjoying the peaceful beach resort and various activities offered: fishing, day and night diving, dhow trips and snorkeling. (Cost of activities is not included.) Overnight at Matemwe Bungalows [BLD]

DAY 13 :  DEPARTURE
Transfer to the Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Dar Es Salaam or Nairobi, connecting with your international departure. [B]
