Our cruises to Antarctica offer at least six days of exploration on the incomparably beautiful Antarctic Peninsula and the surrounding islands and waterways. Once the ship reaches the continent we venture daily - experiencing Antarctica with all our senses as we walk, cruise in Zodiacs, and paddle kayaks through berg fields viewing enormous tabular icebergs, and walking among hillsides covered with thousands of penguins. The sights, sounds and emotions will stay in your mind forever from the silence of this place to the excitement on deck as someone shouts "Whales!".  Our Antarctica vacations begin and end either in the vibrant capital city of Santiago, Chile or Buenos Aires, Argentina. The following itinerary is an example of one of many programs we offer depending on availability, budget and vessel preferences.

DAY 1 :  SANTIAGO OR BUENOS AIRES
Early morning arrival in Santiago or Buenos Aires. Airport reception and transfer to your hotel. A mix of European, Spanish Colonial and modern architecture delights us with a combination of cosmopolitan charms and historic beauty. This afternoon enjoy an guided city tour. Overnight in downtown hotel.

A captive audience approaches the Antarctic Peninsula.
DAY 2 :  USHUAIA AND BOARD OUR SHIP
Fly south over the rugged Patagonian landscape to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. This afternoon we enjoy a hike in the national park before boarding our vessel. This evening meet your fellow passengers as at dinner, a welcome briefing and the formal presentation of your captain and crew. Leaving Ushuaia behind our travel to Antarctica begins in earnest. [BLD]

Visit colonies of penguins and capture amazing photographs.
DAYS 3-4 :  DRAKE PASSAGE
As we cross the Drake Passage, we keep a lookout for the various seabirds that glide alongside our ship and our eyes open for whales. In the company of naturalist guides, you will be treated to a series of informative lectures on the natural history and fauna of the white continent as well as tales of both successful and futile explorations of this region. We may be greeted by misty, grey conditions or perhaps calm water and clear skies as we pass through the legendary passage. Overnights aboard ship. [BLD]

DAYS 5-10 :  ANTARCTICA
With nearly 24 hours of daylight at this time of year, we make the most of our six days exploring the Antarctic Peninsula and the surrounding islands. Our schedule is flexible, allowing us to take advantage of the unexpected. We'll sail through the incomparable Lemaire Channel, learn to identify penguins and other bird species, and land on the "White Continent." Together with our veteran expedition team, we will navigate through berg fields by Zodiac and paddle kayaks through the pristine waters. Overnights aboard ship. [BLD]

Sea Kayaking brings you closer to the wildlife and icebergs.
DAY 11 :  AT SEA
As we begin our journey back to Ushuaia you have ample time to reflect and catch up on notes reflecting this epic adventure and to enjoy a massage. Be sure to keep watch for the occasional albatross escort! Overnight on board ship. [BLD]

DAY 12 :  CAPE HORN
Today we round the southernmost tip of South America, en route to Ushuaia. Overnight on board ship. [BLD]

DAY 13 :  USHUAIA-ONWARD TRAVEL
Disembark in the world's southernmost city. Explore the town and have lunch. This afternoon, drive into Torres del Paine National Park for optional Patagonia tour add-on, or fly north to Buenos Aires to connect with your scheduled international flight. [BL]
