Nicaragua climate is tropical with two seasons. The best time to travel in Nicaragua is the dry season from December to May when there is almost no rain in the western lowlands. Travel to Nicaragua in the green season from June to January is defined by daily afternoon and evening showers, but rarely disrupting travel. 

The Tropical Dry Zone covers the Pacific coastlands and the areas around the lakes where Managua, Leon and Granada are located. Temperatures vary according to elevation: average lowland daytime temperatures where we travel in Nicaragua range between 77-86°F (30°C) and somewhat cooler in the highlands. Temperatures can rise into the 90’s °F on the coasts, especially in the Nicaraguan Caribbean which is subject to high humidity and rainfall throughout the year. The hottest months of the year are March, April and May.
