This morning we board a motorized piragua (dugout canoe) and travel into another world to explore an Embera indigenous village on the shores of the Gatun River. Along the way keep your eyes peeled for iguanas, heron, great egret, neotropical cormorants, and keel-billed toucans. The Embera villagers greet us with a traditional dance and song as an introduction to their culture. You may decide this is a great time to be painted with the customary jagua, a natural dye the Embera use to adorn their bodies. After a traditional lunch we return to our hotel for some relaxtion around the pool. A variety of restaurants are available within walking distance for you to explore the local cuisine.
