Kaingo Camp

  Kaingo Camp
The Leadwood tree bar at the
main lodge.
This family run camp offers a bush experience like no other in South Luangwa National Park. Each of the five thatched bungalows feature private baths, stone floors, and are adorned with baskets, mats, and artwork created by local people. Listen to the grunting hippos from comfortable lounge chairs overlooking the Luangwa River. Observe elephants crossing the river from the floating dock at camp. Conservation lies at the heart of Kaingo camp-the staff is involved in everything from rubbish removal to anti-poaching patrols and maintaining a low impact road system near the camps. Fresh produce, homemade dairy products and natural soaps come from the Kaingo family farm. Guests can visit local schools and environmental education programs set up by Kaingo camp as well as a craft co-op in Mfuwe.

The dock is an ideal place for bird watching and for observing wildlife coming to the river.
Local art accents the interior of the simple bungalows.
