Situated at the southern end of the Palace complex, Shiv Niwas was originally Maharana Fateh Singhji's residence. The rooms around the magnificent central courtyard were entertaining rooms for the Maharaja's personal guests. His Late Highness Maharana Bhagwat Singhji Mewar's vision inspired the restoration of Shiv Nawas to its original glory and the conversion of the palace into a luxury hotel. Being of such significant historic importance and due to the quality of the restoration work, Shiv Nawas has been categorized as a Grand Heritage Palace. As the filming location for the James Bond movie Octopussy, the hotel offers guests a taste of an age gone by while also offering opportunities to appreciate its more current history as well.
