Hotel Raj Palace

| |
Built almost 300 years ago, the Raj Palace opens doors to another era. |
The Raj Palace was built in 1729 by Jaipur's Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh for hisfavorite Maharani. From 1821 onwards, the palace was used to house the Resident at Jaipur - the controlling British Raj official. Set in 15 acres of well maintained lawns, the Raj Palace was converted into a hotel in 1979 and today belongs to the Taj group of hotels. The hotel has played host to several VIPs, including Queen Elizabeth II and Jacqueline Kennedy. The palace offers spacious suites with high ceilings, chandeliers and period furniture. Beautiful paintings and antiques have been carefully preserved and are reminiscent of its royal history. The Raj Palace is the first centrally air-conditioned Heritage Hotel in India. Other features include a swimming pool and 35 well appointed rooms, each with a distinct theme and overlooking the spacious lawns ideal for walking and bird watching.
