Neotropico SarapiquiS
Centro Neotropico SarapiquiS
Centro Neotropico SarapiquiS is located just north of the
Braulio Carrillo National Park, right on the Sarapiqui River.
Designed to emulate the housing of native Costa Ricans before
the Spanish came to the country, the Centro Neotropico SarapiquiS's
twenty-four rooms are built in three enormous palenques, thatched-roof
rancho-style houses. Each room has a private bath and ceiling
fan. The outside porch is a perfect place for birding or for
just relaxing and reading a book. Also on site are a rain
forest museum and an archaeological site containing four large
pre-Columbian tombs dating back to 800 AD. The Tirimbina rain
forest preserve is just across the river.
