Days 3 - 5: Citadel / Khan el-Khalili / Luxor / Karnak Temple / The Valley of the Kings And Queens
Take a morning to explore Medieval Cairo, visiting the imposing Citadel and plunging into the spice- and silk-filled Khan el-Khalili, Africa’s largest market, before taking an overnight train to Aswan. After arriving and taking some time to relax, set out for two days of guided tours. Explore the Karnak Temple (return in the evening for a sound and light show) and then journey to the West Bank, known as the land of the dead, to visit the royal tombs at The Valley of the Kings and Queens and the Tombs of the Princes – see walls decorated with texts from the Book of the Dead and the tomb of King Tut. Use your free time to visit Luxor Temple and Luxor Museum, wander the town and explore the market. Overnight are on the train and at the Steigenburger Nile Palace Hotel in Luxor.
