Grab your hiking shoes and daypack for a morning nature walk through the lush vegetation of the cloud forest of the Baru Volcano National Park on the Cascada Trail. At an elevation of 2,286 meters (7,500 feet) we have an opportunity to admire the beautiful waterfalls along the way, and to look for the elusive resplendent quetzal, three-wattled bellbird, black-faced solitaire, volcano hummingbird, long-tailed silky-flycatcher and prong-billed barbet in their cool habitat of orchids, bromeliads and wild avocados.
After lunch we visit the Rosas Family Strawberry Farm to pick our dessert! Nestled on the side of Volcan Baru, Panama's highest mountain, at 1,650mt (5,413 feet), the farm is perfectly situated with cool mountain air and fertile volcanic soil ideal for growing perfect strawberries, coffee and a variety of other crops. The family has been growing strawberries for over 30 years. Today, their strawberry has earned recognition for the family’s dedicated organic cultivation of this fruit. Taste different crop varieties and then harvest your favorites before descending to the local café to enjoy a delicious dessert made of the strawberries you harvested! Overnight at Hotel Panamonte.
