Grandfather and grandson bonding in Costa Rica

Dennis and Gavin raft the Pacuare River

Life Should be an Adventure!
by Dennis and Gavin Forster

Our Multisport Family Adventure to Costa Rica exceeded our expectations by a huge amount! Our trip was designed to be a bonding trip for my twelve-year-old grandson and I. Life should be an adventure, so I wanted him to have one with me. There was no way the trip could have been better planned, or enjoyed more by its participants. Our flights were pretty much on schedule and we received a very warm welcome at each stop, and each hotel. The Grano de Oro Hotel was very charming. I'm sure they have the best food (and desserts!) in San Jose. The meals in the courtyard are most enchanting. Everyone did a terrific job of welcoming us on each of our arrivals in San Jose (and looked after our extra luggage and packages while we were away from San Jose). Our time rafting on the Pacuare River was the highlight of some fabulous adventures. We agree with the people who consider it one of the top five river trips in the world. We had a super guide, Adrienos, along with a safety expert in his own kayak, and a very talented photographer. The owners, the staff, the guides, and the other guests at the La Paloma Lodge were most delightful. We loved our tour of Corcovado National Park, snorkeling at Cano Island, zip-lining in the tree tops, the family meals, and of course Tracy (the bug lady) with her after dinner tours. We were so enthusiastic about our river trip that four of the La Paloma guests had already signed up for it before we left the lodge. Just about the time we thought things couldn't get any better, we arrived at Punta Islita. It's magical!!! No wonder you saved it 'til last. When we weren't zip lining, horseback riding (along the beach and the ocean), surfing, or kayaking (and that was in only two days)we were in the awesome infinity pool. Punta Islita also has a superb and friendly staff. The open air dining room with its view of the pool, the ocean, and the mountains is almost too good to be true. Photos certainly don't do it justice, but we will try to send a few. Congratulations to you, and to everyone involved in our "trip of a lifetime". I have five more grandchildren who are already looking forward to their own Wildland Adventure. Our next visit to Costa Rica can't be too soon. It's a breathtakingly beautiful country filled with warm and enchanting people. We felt blessed to be there, and are anxious to return!
