Constants and Contradictions of Egypt

| Egypt is a wonderful country of constants and contradictions. The small towns in the Oases look as though they have not changed in 1000 years, but then you catch the cell phone, the Internet Caf and the satellite disk. The modern and luxurious hotels in Giza may have views of the Pyramids from your bed. Those in Cairo may provide the cool breeze of the Nile. In Aswan you can sit all afternoon on the Terrace where Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile and slowly sip gin and tonics and pretend you are back in her day. In the Valley of the Kings, you walk into a tomb which youve seen in print and television and cannot believe that you are seeing it in person. In Sharm you will find magnificent corals for scuba diving and snorkeling. The White Desert has white, oddly shaped wind and sand carved natural phenomena and like being on the moon. You build a fire, watch the sunset and the stars rise, and you realize we are all one.
