On their Wildland Adventure to Peru, the Goldberg family gave a ride to a Quechua woman who insisted on returning the favor by welcoming them into her home.
|
"She began chattering non-stop in her native language with our Quechua-speaking guide, Claudia. She insisted that she show us her humble home and her guinea pigs." |

Disappearing Destinations |
|
In its review of the new book, Disappearing Destinations: 37 Places in Peril and What Can Be Done to Help Save Them (Vintage Books), the Earth Island Journal recognizes how we work together with
you to preserve the places we travel:
Kurt Kutay, owner of Seattle-based
Wildland Adventures, designs his company's trips "… to create preservation opportunities as much as possible." According to Kutay, 95 percent of Wildland travelers donate money to conservation and community developments in the
destination countries they visit. One group of Americans Kutay led through Kenya donated $6,000 to restore a collapsed well, freeing the local women from a 12.5-mile daily walk through the desert for water.

Remembering Sam Tillet |
We re-dedicate ourselves to pursuing the joyful spirit of discovery that our guide extraordinaire Sam Tillett taught us over the years. Sam passed away
after a heart attack while camping in the bush with his family and friends. He was a dear friend and was revered by many Wildland travelers as one of the best guides in the world. In his memory, we have collected personal memorials from
Wildland staff and our travelers who knew him.

Machu Picchu Mountain Lodges Trek
Adventures in Exotic Morocco
This spring, Adrian Chalker, our director of group sales, dined his way through Paris and vacationed in the south of Spain, where he crossed by ferry
to explore North Africa. He followed new paths and retraced his footsteps from decades earlier as a guide in the modern kingdom of Morocco.
"At the Kasbah Samsara in the Atlas Mountains, Wildland travelers mingle with mountain villagers, stay in converted Berber houses spread throughout the village, eat delicious Moroccan meals made from locally produced vegetables, grains,
meats and wines, and contribute to the community. The Samsara is staffed and run entirely by the villagers and all food and vegetables are locally produced."
