Wildland Adventures Recognized for Excellence in Adventure Travel
Seattle, WA—Wildland Adventures continues to garner awards for its innovative adventure travel programs in its 20th anniversary year. National Geographic Traveler selected the "Maasailand Safari: Living Among the Maasai" as one of its 50 Tours of a Lifetime. This is the second year in a row the firm had one of its trips selected for this recognition. Last year’s selection was for the Undiscovered Belize Adventure.
This month National Geographic Adventure selected Wildland as #4 of the 55 "Best Outfitters on Earth", again citing the Maasai trip for offering "travelers truly authentic experiences…that delve deep, provide uncommon access and, most importantly, pave the way for interaction with local people." The publication first scores adventure companies based on education, sustainability, quality of service and spirit of adventure. The editors and experts then rank the firms by obtaining direct feedback from past customers.
"This survey is an elegant way to measure the equity you have established in the minds of people who have explored the world with you. Great to see leaders like you getting the recognition you worked so hard to earn," said Fran Farrell, National Geographic Adventure publisher.
Kurt Kutay, President of Wildland Adventures notes, "We are proud that our travelers hold us in such regard. Although fine meals and high thread counts are nice, National Geographic editors ranked us at the top for "…teaching their clients about the places they visit, pushing the frontiers of discovery and adventure, and giving back to the planet." The "Maasailand Safari: Among the Maasai", is a rare opportunity for travelers to combine wildlife safaris in game parks with a profound cross-cultural experience that changes lives of hosts and guests alike. Participants live in specially built private bungalows in a Maasai village where they explore the African savanna on foot with Maasai warriors, share stories with elders, discuss world issues of common concern, learn about wildlife conservation and animal husbandry, women’s issues, rites of passage, and discover the fine arts of beading, traditional healing, music and dance. " This trip is scheduled with monthly departures in 2008 from January through April as well as October and November. Land cost is $4295 per person based on group size.
