Five Top Adventure Travel Companies Unite to Launch ‘Trusted Adventures’ Alliance

New website features 220 unique trip itineraries to over 70 worldwide destinations

February 13, 2006

Seattle, WA— Whether it’s white-water rafting in the western United States, cycling through Europe, a summer camp adventure in China for your teen, witnessing the wonders of Yellowstone with your kids, a wildlife safari in Kenya, or exploring the rainforests of Costa Rica, the new Trusted Adventures alliance offers a quick and comprehensive way to find and book your vacation of a lifetime.

All of this and more can be found on the new alliance website, www.trustedadventures.com. This interactive site with trip search capabilities provides active travelers with one-stop access to 220 unique and proven trips to over 70 worldwide destinations.

The five founding members of Trusted Adventures include; Austin-Lehman Adventures, Wildland Adventures, Euro-Bike & Walking Tours, Western River Expeditions, and AAVE Teen Adventures. Each, a pioneer in its respective field, has over 20 years of experience in offering client service oriented programs.

“The premise amongst all five companies is that the client comes first,” says Dan Austin, Director, Austin-Lehman Adventures. “With this philosophy, it’s only natural that our companies look for ways to expand opportunities for our clients. By joining forces we can all, in good conscience, send our veteran travelers to parts of the world that individually we don’t cover with our own programs.”

For example, he says, a family that has traveled with Austin-Lehman Adventures may have a teenager who wants to travel with other teens. AAVE Teen Adventures, an alliance member, can accommodate this ALA “alum” with a group of like-minded adventurers on, among others, an African safari.

Kurt Kutay, president of Seattle-based Wildland Adventures, an award-winning ecotourism company says that the service-oriented philosophy also includes sensitivity toward cultures and environments they explore.

“With a common respect for the environment, cultures and traditions encountered in the course of our adventures, we’re devoted to helping our travelers experience the world with the honesty and affirmation that their choice of Trusted Adventures implies. By delivering more sensitive and authentic travel experiences our clients return with the best memories knowing they have enhanced rather than exploited the people and places where we travel,” he says.

The five-company alliance supports Travelers Conservation Trust, The International Ecotourism Society, Center for Responsible Tourism, Cultural Survival, Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, Rainforest Alliance and Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics.

Visitors to the website will find detailed information on each member company, a featured trip section that highlights seasonal offerings, client testimonials, travel industry awards, a photo gallery, and a page with special offers and consumer discounts.

One such special is The Trusted Adventures Reward Program. As an incentive to travel within the network of alliance companies, the consortium offers a 5 percent discount off any trip for adventurers who have previously traveled with any of the other Trusted Adventures companies.

Since its founding in 1986, Wildland Adventures has been recognized by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine as one of the world’s best eco-travel outfitters and recently received Outside Magazine’s award for “Best Africa Trip of the Year 2005”.
