Seattle, WA— Wildland Adventure's new lodge-to-lodge trek is an entirely new trekking experience in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Based on the popular concept of hut-to-hut hiking in the Alps or tramping in New Zealand, this new trek is a physical, cultural, and spiritual journey along ancient footpaths through the high Andes en route to the legendary ruins of Machu Picchu. Trekking in style from lodge to lodge participants hike along a spectacular route in Cordillera Vilcabamba through sub-tropical bamboo forests to alpine meadows surrounded by glaciers and azure lakes under towering snow-capped peaks dominated by Mt. Salcantay (20,574'), the sacred "Apu" of local Quechua communities encountered along the way. There will be many opportunities to interact and learn about customs and beliefs of the local indigenous people of the Andes.

Like Inca royalty adventurers overnight in the comfort of well-appointed trekker's lodges with private rooms, exceptional international and Peruvian cuisine as well as sauna, jacuzzi, reading room, and cozy fireplace. This less traveled route is a more spectacular high Andean trek than the popular Inca Trail.

Note: Wildland Adventures President, Kurt Kutay, will accompany the inaugural departure of this trip Jul 21 - Jul 31, 2007. He will meet the group in Cusco on the eve of the trek and join the group through the trekking days only. Trekking participants will also be part of a Wildland Adventures promotional movie being produced during the trek.
