David Espejo, Andes

David is one of our most experienced guides. His never ending curiosity for exploring new places and getting to know people from all over the world is what encouraged him to live in different South American countries, as well as Holland. In his leisure time, he enjoys discovering new treks, bird watching, and playing sports. He often organizes his own expeditions, searching for lost Incan sites, and he has also guided archeologists for scientific expeditions. His greatest outdoor achievement was an attempt to climb Mount Salkantay, which although he did not make the summit, is quite an accomplishment since very few people have even stepped foot on this dangerous and mystical peak.

Raul Montes, Andes

Raul has been a certified mountain guide in South America since 1987. He was born and raised in Cusco and considers himself an Andean Renaissance man. In addition to his extensive experience as a mountain biking, river rafting, trekking, horseback riding, and climbing guide, he also owns a hotel in the Amazon cloud forest and one in Cusco. His greatest outdoor achievement was summiting Mount Aconcagua in Argentina (the highest mountain in South America) an impressive five times, which at 22,841 feet (6,962 meters) is quite an accomplishment. He was also one of the main pioneers in bringing mountain biking to Cusco. You can listen to his knowledge of the history, geography, and bird watching of South America over a glass of wine which he also greatly enjoys.

Manolo Lazo

Manolo is a worldly guide having lived in numerous locations such as Spain, the Dominican Republic, Austria, and Switzerland. Other than trekking, he is a professional whitewater rafting guide. He has been featured in kayaking films “Paucartambo Inca River” set in Peru and “Neblina 90” set in Venezuela where they explored regions accessible only by helicopter. Manolo´s love for water usually takes him to the coast of Peru for his vacations. As a guide he loves sharing the mystical and cultural aspects of his country with visitors.

Claudia Sanchez

Reaching out to visitors and friends is one of Claudia’s strongest traits. She believes the most important thing is to make people smile throughout their travel in Peru. The joy she takes in the beauty of the countryside, the fascinating history and contemporary culture of her homeland, Peru, is self apparent, and her work as a tour guide is the fulfillment of her buoyant nature. Claudia grew up in Cusco and is a native speaker of Cusco’s ancient language, Quechua. She is also fluent in Spanish and English and studied tourism management, history, anthropology, art and geography at college. Claudia has been leading group travel to Peru and Bolivia for nine years. Although Claudia loves the mountains and leading active adventure travel in Peru, she enjoys equally relating the story of Cusco, guiding in the museums, and highlighting the city’s many historic landmarks. For the visitor, Claudia’s language skills, heritage and personality are a bridge between the ancient and modern, between the culture and legends of Andean culture and the modern world.
