Tucked into the Andes among the steep granite peaks of La Junta Valley, the Mountain Lodge presents you with unforgettable views each morning and allows you to slip back to the simple pleasures of traditional life in Chile's backcountry. Located 20 kms upstream from the town of Cochamo, this valley is only accessible on foot or on horseback. The lodge sits amid 50 sprawling hectares, bounded by two rivers, and boasts a lake, two waterfalls, several hiking trails, an outdoor asado and old growth forests where the ancient Alerce tree still can be found. The rustic outback accommodation has two bathrooms with hot showers and four bedrooms that can accommodate a maximum of 12 people. Meals are prepared on the wood-burning stove or outside over a traditional asado and shared communal-style with all hosts, guides and guests. Picnic lunches are prepared each day for those who want to explore the miles of hiking trails. Note that these accommodations are in an authentic mountain cabin and are therefore rustic; there is no electricity, internet or phone access. Beer and wine must be brought up by horseback from Cochamo.
