Karina was born in Guayaquil and lived in the Galapagos islands for many years, she studied at the State University of Guayaquil, where she received her bachelors degree in Tourism and Hotel Management. She is now studying for her Masters degree in Administration of Leadership in Education at the Technical University of Loja. Karina is a Dive Master and guides not only in the Galapagos Marine Reserve but also in mainland Ecuador. Her passions are water activities and photography, as well as sharing the beauty of her corner of the planet.
Roberto Palacios is a native-born Quiteno, and learned his love of tourism from his father, who was a tour guide throughout Roberto’s youth. Roberto’s personal international travels dramatically altered his global perspective, prompting him to dedicate himself to the study of English and learning more about the various inhabitants of this wide world. His father’s untimely death thrust Roberto into a position of responsibility for his family, and he returned to Ecuador, where he settled into teaching English. Roberto’s deep love and compassion toward his country, coupled with his innate teaching abilities well-prepared him for the next step in his professional development, studies at the prestigious Universidad de Especialidades Turisticas. As a well-regarded tour guide, Roberto proudly represents the beautiful country of Ecuador and its diverse people, cultures and natural wonders to visitors from throughout the world.
Orlando worked with the Galapagos National Park Service (PNG) for ten years during which time he completed 13 one-month courses on interpretation of park programs among others. He has been a senior guide since 1995. Orlando received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and studied Agronomy at the Universidad Tehnica Yachala. His favorite Galapagos topics of conversation include: Geology and reptiles, National park programs, human history, Ecuador ecology and climate. When Orlando is not guiding, he enjoys watching his favorite teams play futbol (soccer)
Harry studied Business Administration specializing in tourism and English in Ecuador. Harry was born in the Galapagos Islands and has been guiding since 1996. Harry has completed several dive courses including open water, advanced, rescue and technical divemaster. His preferred topics of conversation include: arrival and establishment of species, marine currents, creation of the islands and plate tectonics. When Harry is not guiding, he enjoys scuba diving and driving his speed boats that operate as day trips from San Cristobal Island where he lives.
Magdalena "Malena" Cruz
Magdalena studied Tourism Professional Guide at the Universidad Internacional del Ecuador and also took courses on Interpretation Techniques in the PNG. She has been a licensed guide since 1994. Her favorite Galapagos topics of conversation include: sea currents, geology and the marine reserve. When Malena is not guiding, she manages her family’s hotel on the Island of San Cristobal. She also enjoys reading, music and fishing.
Wilson hails from the high Andes, born in the famous Ecuadorian market town of Otavalo. Wilson was raised by his grandparents until he was seven, before living with his parents. He learned the indigenous Kwichua tongue as a child, and fully embracing his culture and heritage, which he so generously shares with guests from throughout the world. After studying Ecuadorian history and tourism, he eventually obtained his license as a National Tourist Guide at the Universidad Central in Quito. He has over a decade of experience as a guide, and previously worked for the Ecuadorian Government at the Palacio de Carondelet. Wilson is easily one of our most popular guides in Ecuador, consistently receiving high marks from returning travelers. As he would say upon meeting our guests, "Let me give you my hand and show you my country!!!"
Ivan studied Environmental Management and Tourism at the University of Babahoyo and also took a Seminar of Photography techniques. He became a licensed Galapagos guide in 2005. He enjoys swimming, diving, snorkeling and kayaking. Ivan is an accomplished diver with certification as an SSI Scuba Instructor and Master Scuba Trainer and also emergency first Responder Instructor. She and his sister Karina often guide together on our family departures.
Jose Antonio Jaramillo
Antonio was born and raised in Quito. Exposed to adventure and cultural tourism at an early age, he was inspired to study at Cenestur (Instituto de hoteleria y turismo) where he became a tour guide . His vast knowledge of Ecuador, together with his meticulous dedication to each and every itinerary, guarantees a wonderful and seamless adventure. Antonio loves his country and he´s so proud to have the biggest office in the world which is his beautiful Ecuador. In addition, he relishes learning from guests about their homelands and traditions. He has a profound knowledge of Ecuador and his positive spirit and enthusiasm make it a delight to explore Ecuador. When he´s not working, Antonio loves to hike and bike in the Andes with his family or go birding
