Providing an all-inclusive guest experience, Alto Atacama lies near the ancient ruins of Pukara de Quitor, just three kilometres from the oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama. Modern design incorporates elements of traditional adobe structures and the hotel’s 32 suites all boast private terraces. A plethora of guided excursions are offered each day for small group adventures– from arduous mountain treks and bike rides at high altitude to easier van-assisted explorations of high mountain saline lakes, steaming geysers, Martian landscapes and oasis rich with flamingos and vicuna. A complimentary shuttle transports guests between the lodge and town for more dining options. A multitude of outdoor pools make this a good option for families along with discounted child rates for children 2-12 years old. An astronomer is on hand for evening tours of the night sky through a manually operated telescope.
