Hosteria El Pilar is located close to the base of Mt. Fitz Roy, approximately 17 km outside of the town of El Chalten. Surrounded by the Andean-Patagonian forest, the building sits along the Rio Electrico from which all of the hydro-power is generated. The country house is styled in true fashion of an old house in Patagonia similar to that of the pioneers who first lived there, with brightly painted corrugated metal roofing and siding. It has 10 comfortable and cozy rooms, each with its own private bathroom and a view of the mountain landscape. The original cuisine is sure to please and stand out as the chef presents a variety of flavors that combine international cuisine with the distinctive touch of ingredients from the Patagonian forest. Meals are cooked in the wood oven which gives them a special taste. Common areas allow guests to socialize in the bar, relax in the library, or take in a sunny afternoon on the outside lawn.
