What a trip!
What a trip! The Wildland staff, and especially Grettel were just excellent throughout the process. Our guide Alex Arias is just beyond any expectation we had for a guide. He not only has all the skills for a guide, but is also thoughtful, funny and wonderful with kids. He was especially wonderful with the two 9-year olds in the group, teaching them to make monkey calls, toothpick puzzles at dinners, and he arranged two horses for the long hike.
Alex also purchased soccer balls after learning that our kids play soccer. We stopped at a village field one afternoon and had a casual game with some local kids. That's on top of him being knowledgeable about plants, animals, culture, being reliable and considerate, you know, the usual stuff for an excellent guide.
Grettel was great in sending information ahead of the trip, with details that covered all areas. She was so very prompt with answers whenever I emailed her with questions. Our driver was also very good, always on time patiently waiting for us, and above all a very safe driver with great skills. The charter flight out of Manuel Antonio was very efficient and a pleasant ride with beautiful scenery. The food was great. We particularly enjoyed the local-style meal at the hot spring in Arenal. In fact, we enjoyed the Arenal area the most. The schedule is packed, activities fun and the Hotel Nayara was just wonderful. That hotel has become my favorite hotel ever, and I suspect will remain so for a long time.
