Sleeper Train: First Class A/C Sleeper

First Class air-conditioned (AC:1A) is the highest class in the India railway system on regular routes, roughly comparable with economy class on airlines. You’ll find the Indian business executives and elite traveling in this class. In First Class A/C two types of cabins are available: Four Berth cabins and Two Berth cabins both lockable from the inside. (Note: Two Berth cabins are given as priority to military personnel.) Each cabin has two lower berths/one upper or two upper/one lower berth. Linens and pillows are provided. Vendors offer refreshments tea, coffee snacks, etc. Meals are limited to certain trains so we typically provide box meals to take on board where noted in your itinerary. India travelers tend to mind their own business on these coaches in contrast to all other classes of Indian train with more open, closer personal contact. Toilets are found at the end of each train car.
