Kambona Ole Tirra Mollel
Kambona Ole Tirra Mollel is one of the most experienced and well equipped guides on Mt Kilimanjaro. He has climbed Kilimanjaro over 100 times and also leads ascents up Mt Kenya and Mt. Meru. His dedication to supporting each individual with keen psychological insight to personal challenge, experienced management of high altitude ailments, and providing the best equipment for safety and comfort, all contribute to his great success in getting trekkers to the Kibo summit. Kambona also leads our Tanzania Wildlife Week and walking safaris throughout his native Tanzania including the Serengeti, and among Maasai villages around the Ngorogoro Crater.
His previous training has included advanced guiding and wilderness emergency medicine. He is certified as a Wilderness First Responder and has helped instruct classes on emergency procedures and set rescue protocols on Kilimanjaro. Before suffering a knee injury, Kambona was a world-class marathon runner preparing for the Olympics.
Kambona is a native Maasai who combines his indigenous knowledge of the land and his native culture with a childhood education in Tanzanian schools and his frequent travels our Seattle office. He is trilingual speaking fluent Maasai, Swahili and English. Gregarious by nature, Kambona enjoys sharing his knowledge about the flora and fauna of Africa, history of Tanzania, and the traditions of his people.
