Eclipse

At 210 feet long with a beam of 41 feet, the luxurious Galapagos expedition ship Eclipse accommodates half the number of passengers of other Galapagos yachts her size; she preserves the intimacy of a smaller Galapagos yacht with the spacious amplitude of a luxury expedition Galapagos cruise featuring large staterooms and ample social areas. Galapagos cruising aboard Eclipse is enhanced with a 20' dipping pool, a hot tub, two bars, a library/video room, and a comfortable upper deck that is partially covered in the day and serves as an the night time observation deck for stargazing. Meals included in this Galapagos package are served indoors at a single open seating or a shaded al fresco dining area. The lounge provides plenty of comfortable seating for all and is where briefings are held with naturalist-guides. A small gift shop, open on demand, stocks toiletries, books, souvenirs, T-shirts and other items. The Eclipse also features an air-renewal system and an infirmary with a medical doctor is on board at all times.

Crew and Amenities :

Four professional naturalist guides assure a low passenger-to-guide ratio. This Galapagos ship carries a fleet of hard-bottom, inflatable pangas (rubber boats) each seating a group of 12 passengers with its own naturalist-guide; they are quick to disembark passengers and stable to land anywhere on shore excursions. The Eclipse prides itself on the quality of its naturalist guides trained and licensed by the Galapagos Islands National Park Service and Charles Darwin Research Station; they are highly informed, patient, flexible and friendly. The captain maintains an open-bridge policy; guests are welcome to visit officers for a lesson in navigation or marine engineering whenever the ship at anchor.

Snorkeling equipment is available on board at no extra charge and a limited number of wet-suits are available for rent at a nominal cost.

Family Departures:

On designated Eclipse Galapagos Family vacations, the staff provides separate shore excursions for kids as well as extra shipboard activities and special menus.
