SUMMARY OF PRIMARY DUTIES
Utilize detailed destination knowledge, field experience, and exemplary customer service skills to develop customer relationships and help them plan the trip of a lifetime!
Provide valuable insight and ideas to help in marketing your destinations.
Develop new (and revise old) itineraries to reflect market trends.
Help to provide content for printed brochures, web, e-news and special promotions
Prepare local travel presentations
CLIENT AND OPERATOR PRE-DEPARTURE SERVICES
Monitor client reservations to ensure the very best possible travel experience.
Maintain pre-departure documents with help from the operations team and respond to customer pre-departure trip queries.
Confirm in-country tour services with ground operators; help coordinate destination air services as needed.
CLIENT AND SUPPLIER ACCOUNTS MANAGEMENT
Oversee client accounts receivable and payments to contracted suppliers with operations management team.
Negotiate rates, and request quotes for itineraries from suppliers.
TRAVEL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Collaborating with in-country suppliers and guides to develop new travel programs, itineraries and meaningful travel experiences, including FAM trips/trade shows.
CONSERVATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Oversee local conservation and community development projects supported by trip proceeds.
Connect interested clients with company-supported conservation and community projects.
The Africa Program Director works together as part of a team responsible for sales and administration of group and individual travel arrangements for designated destinations in Africa primarily including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique.
Desired qualifications for this position include: 2 years experience in travel sales, tour operations and administration with commercial adventure travel field experience in African safaris. Detailed knowledge of accommodations, parks and wildlife reserves, knowledge of safari tourism services including land and air travel logistics. Additional requirements include exceptional written and verbal business communications skills, an organized and detail-oriented working style, an engaging telephone presence and a dedication to exceptional customer service.
Salary BOE plus incentives based on performance.
Major medical, travel, paid holidays and sick leave, vacations, optional bi-weekly 4-day work week.
Program Directors travel an average of 2-4 weeks per year on educational trips to develop and maintain detailed destination knowledge for sales and program development expertise.
