The November 2007 issue of National Geographic Adventure magazine released results of the "Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth", an extensive survey of hundreds of travel companies worldwide and Wildland Adventures scored 94.3% putting us 4th overall as a "Do-it-All" outfitter.
In 2007, for the second year in a row, National Geographic Traveler magazine selected one of our adventures as one of 50 Tours of a Lifetime. This year, the trip chosen is our Maasailand Safari, a community-based safari that is an extraordinary opportunity to combine wildlife safaris in Amboseli and the Maasai Mara, with a profound cross-cultural experience
In 2006, National Geographic Traveler magazine selected our Undiscovered Belize as one of 50 Tours of a Lifetime ranking Wildland Adventures as providing the highest quality experiences in the most interesting locations, using the most sustainable of tourism practices.
Family Adventure Guru - A rope over one shoulder and a walking stick in the other, the May 2007 issue of National Geographic Adventure Magazine features a friendly caricature of Wildland Adventures' President, Kurt Kutay, as the industry expert answering questions about family adventure travel.
The
September 2005 issue of Conde
Nast Traveler magazine
announces Wildland Adventures as a finalist winner
of the magazine's annual "Green
List" of top
ecotourism companies that "...demonstrate how they preserve natural surrounding, contribute
to local cultures, and provide a rich guest experience."

"Travel
philanthropy has been on the rise
since the tsunami of 2004. For
travelers looking to give back to the communities
they visit, Wildland Adventures
has developed a sort of cross-cultural
exchange program with the nomadic
Masai in East Africa whereby the
Africans receive direct benefits
from tourism and guests are exposed to
the tribe's culture. "
Outside
Magazine has selected Wildland
Adventures’ Maasailand Safari as the winner of the “Best Africa Trip of the Year” in
its “Outside 38 Best Trips of 2005,” February issue.
Described as a “safari-with-a-conscience”, the Maasailand
Safari was distinguished from other
African trips for its meaningful
encounters with native Maasai and remarkable game viewing.
Recommended
by Conde Nast Traveler magazine as one of the top 18 ecotourism outfitters in the world. “In searching for
the authentic, Wildland Adventures delivers the genuine article.”
“Wildland
Adventures is recommended by environmental groups for their
innovative and uncompromising approaches to conservation
of the environment and to preservation of the world's diverse
cultural heritage.”
"Wildland
Adventures is a company that does things the right way.
Its friendly staff can arrange specialty trips, particularly
birding, family travel, honeymoon adventures, trekking
and student/teacher study trips. It offers many high-quality,
personalized natural history trips featuring cushy accommodations
for cushy people, hard-core adventures for hard-bodied
rugged types, and lots of in-between. I've reviewed all
the tours offered by Wildland Adventures, and not one is
weak or hyped.”
“I
worked closely with Wildland Adventures in making my plans
and was impressed. They provided a seamless itinerary,
arranged for my flights and local naturalist guides.”
“You need a guide [in Costa Rica] who's knowledgeable
about both the wildlife and culture…consider top-of-the-line
Wildland Adventures.”
“People
want more meaningful travel experiences and they are finding
them in interactions with people from different cultures.”
“Celebrated
for their individual attention to clients, Wildland Adventures
exclusively works with expert local guides to provide exciting,
socially responsible travel. Their conservation and community
development projects in host countries have created good
will among local people, which creates a meaningful and
authentic cross-cultural experience.”
“Wildland
Adventures is the most established, small, ecotourism operator
and a pioneer in ecotourism principles such as contributing
profits to conservation projects in Costa Rica and other
destinations.”
“One couple who snorkeled with sea lions and penguins
on their Galapagos honeymoon arranged by Wildland Adventures,
said that the trip helped them start their life together
with an intense respect for nature.”
“This
[Alaska] trip can't get any better, I think. So what if
I didn't catch any fish. I'm taking home bragging rights
to a near impossible score-the perfect family vacation.”
“Wildland
Adventures has been dubbed by Conde Nast Traveler as one
of the world's top eighteen eco-tourism companies both
for their service to clients and for their commitment to
conservation. Groups are kept small and offer more intimate
experiences.”
“Four
other women and I were met in Entebbe and driven to the Bwindi Impenetrable
Forest, stopping on the way for game drives, boat rides, hiking to view chimpanzees
and looking at breathtakingly beautiful scenery. We stayed at fantastic lodges
and guesthouses arranged by Wildland Adventures in Seattle. We felt absolutely
safe and comfortable in our tented camps in the Bwindi, and had the thrill
of a lifetime to see the two gorilla families in the rain forest.”
“Wildland
Adventures…emphasizes 'field experience'…that
means, in part, the use of local guides to lead the company’s
trips. For example, in Kenya, where Wildland Adventures
has secured the permission of a Masai village for its travelers
to camp on Masailand, the company doesn’t employ,
say, an educated resident of Nairobi to conduct the tour.
Rather, a Masai tribesman acts as a guide. The tribesman,
in turn, takes visitors to his village where they can rest
in a boma (a mud-and-thatch hut) and listen to Masai elders
and children talk about their lives and culture.”
“Wildland
Adventures specializes in Costa Rica. Their superb brochures
say it all!”
